Our first Christmas with Avery!

"All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth"...

The James' having fun!

Holiday hugs with Nani.

Pops, beanies and new boots...what more could a girl ask for?

Tis the Season...for RSV...Falalalala Lalalala...

Like most holidays, this Christmas was fast and furious though we were slowed down a bit when Avery became sick on Christmas Eve morning. Poor thing started coughing and sneezing with a terrible runny nose the day before. Plus, several sleepless nights since the Monday before Christmas. We stayed with Pops and Nani that Tuesday night so that we could just wake up, do some baking, open gifts, eat dinner and be at church by 7, then return home for our family Christmas. Good plan! Too bad all that goes out the window when you have a little one. David noticed her weezing the night before, then Christmas Eve morning she started it up again. We called the Doc, though we hated to be "those kind of parents" who call on holidays, but they were open til noon! So instead of doing all that stuff listed above, we headed to Midland. The waiting room was full of sick kids who were all coughing, of course. We even got a bonus in entertaiment from a three year old, talking back to his mother through a pacifier, not minding, then throwing a chair across the room THREE times while laughing all the way! Yikes! Anyhoo, we finally got in (the last ones of the day) and discovered she along with every other kid in that office minus one, had RSV! Scary! We were a bit nervous and curious and concerned about our little Avery. We changed all plans for the rest of the day. We did get our baking done though my cookies were a disaster abd opened some wonderful gifts. We had to miss church then ended up staying an extra night with Pops and Nani. I don't think any of us minded that one bit! Avery slept in her car seat that night and did much better that we anticipated.
We arrived home on Christmas morning around 10:30 to open gifts...but...instead we sat her in a steam shower til the hot water ran out, fed her, then put her down for a nap in the car seat again. Sooo...then around noon Dave and I had our own little Christmas. We had seen this all going a bit different, you know, the whole wake up early to see what Santa had put in our stockings, open Avery's gifts first then ours. Oh well, there's always next year, Lord willing! When she woke up, we opened her things, then I got cleaned up FINALLY and headed to Lonnie and Lanas for my fams big Christmas party. Aves isn't aloud around other babies since she's sick, so David stayed at home with her while I visited (for a very brief amnount of time). It was sad leaving those two on Christmas day especially since when I left David was eating a sandwich and watching Napoleon Dinomite! Again, not planned! The fam was good, would have loved to stay longer but it was time to head to Iraan! We met at Coy and Ashleys. Shug and Margaret were there but had to leave just in case they could catch what Ave's has. That was sad. Plus, Nana couldn't even hold her cause she was catching a cold! Poor Ave's didn't get to cuddle much there. We then ate and tore open some more goodies!
We had to cut our trip short so that we could get Avery home. We missed another James get together in Eldorado (too many other babies). We spent the rest of the weekend in our pj's watching all the movies we were given over the holidays. We missed alot of family including my brother and Lindsey and Averi who were unable to come home. But we enjoyed what time we had with everyone! Happy Holidays!

Barbie Diamond Castle Party! Sounds Fancy, huh?!

We took time out from Christmas "stuff" to celebrate Kaegen's 5th birthday! Can you believe that little lady is already 5?! The James Fam came over for a sweet celebration! We even got to include Avery in "dress up"!

Merry Christmas to all! So I obviously skipped right over Thanksgiving seeing that I never posted any pictures of the family filled day. Actually it was so fast paced that I didn't even get my camera out! So here it is Christmas...well actually it will be over in another week. But here are a few things that we've been doing for Avery's first Christmas:

We helped Nani decorate her tree...and of-course it was a perfect time for a quick photo shoot in the lights!

Then we visited Myndi and modeled her reindeer antlers with Pop's in the background. Cutest Santa's helper!

This is Ave's Christmas dress. She wasn't up much for posing with a smile in this one, but doesn't she have a handsome dad and a beautiful Christmas tree?!

Here's another. She is smiling however it's a bit blurry. You got to be fast to catch her mood swings!

And Aunt Tisha bought her a gorgeous wreath for her own door! We love pink! Thank you Tisha!

We also had bruch with the gals! Nani, great-Nanny, great-DeeDee, Aunt Lana and Aunt Tisha! What a special holiday already! And we haven't even seen Nana and Papa and the rest of the James gang yet. So more pictures to come after the holidays!

Tech Fans

It is true, we are no longer a house divided. Though I still hold Texas dear to my heart, Tech-mania has overtaken our home. Avery and I have decided to chear with daddy for the red and black. Her Nani bought her this precious chearleading outfit to surprise her daddy with. He loved it and isn't she adorable?! I admit, she looks better in red and black than burnt orange. Maybe it's her rosy-red complection right now. But I'm sure when she gets older, Texas will look good on her as well. So for now, Get Your Guns Up Texas Tech!

Mummy Loves Me

I just had to share these pictures with you all of Avery in this adorable mummy outfit from her Aunt Lindsey. It's just too cute, plus she was in a great mood! That might be because last night she slept from 10 til 6, ate 6 ounces, then went back down from 6:30 to 10! What a great night! Hopefully there will be more of those to come!

Sweet Talk

Once her diaper is changed, Avery loves to lay on her changing table and talk to the wall. There's an adorable clock hanging above her, but she seems to just stare at the semi-gloss canary yellow paint and texture job. She must be fasinated with home improvement! How wonderful that will be to have another hand around the house!

Our Little Pumpkin!

Happy Halloween! I am officially in the "mom club" because I hand-made this little pumpkin costume for our little pumpkin and I didn't even use a pattern! Go Mom! It took sweat, blood and tears but I got it done. Ok, not really, I actually had alot of fun making it! And thank goodness for the shaggy, sparkly material that hides all the imperfections! The real challenge, however, was actually getting her into it! I was clever enough to sew a button on the back side, but once I stuffed it, there was alot less room for her. Good thing she's limber! By the time we got her arms through she had had enough. So we rocked her, patted her, bounced her and pacified her until she was happy again for a few photographs. Poor thing! You know this is just what she wanted to be for Halloween! Ha! Oh well, one day she will be able to say " but mmmmoooommm". So for now, we're having fun putting her in whatever we like!

Our dear friend Keva came out to the house last week and took some amazing pictures of our amazing little girl! She did an outstanding job but look at the subject...you can't go wrong! Avery just keeps getting cuter and cuter each day! She is very alert and starting to respond to our voices. She's grown to nineteen inches long now but lost a few more ounces. So as of today we are giving her formula every other feeding to see if we can't plump her up a bit. Hope it works!

Avery Lynn James Has Arrived!

We are proud to announce that as of Wednesday August 06, 2008 at 11:18 a.m., our little girl came into this world healthy and beautiful! Avery weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces and was 17.5 inches long (or short). God blessed us with a safe delivery and a perfect baby and we couldn't be any happier. We stayed at the hospital til Friday afternoon then made our way home with our baby! Yes, our baby, they let us actually keep her and take her home! It's still hard to believe she is ours! She did great her first night...we hope that will continue! Our family and friends have been so good to us bringing meals and simply holding her while we rest! Thank you everyone!
