Movie Quotes

Our little 3 year old is quite the movie quoting gal. Now, I don't just let her sit and vege in front of the TV 24/7, but she does have her fair share of movies she loves to watch. For a child who is too active to sit through a story book, she sure can pick up on some lines during her favorite films. So I thought it would be fun to see if you can guess which movie her quotes come from. And these are quotes that we hear almost everyday:

1. She reaches out her hand and says, "It's not a shark, it's a hand."

2. Anytime she finds something that resembles a kite she sings, "Let's go fly a kite, up where the air is clear!"

3. And anything that resembles an umbrella (for instance a piece of bread stabbed onto the end of a straw), she yells, "Jane! Michael!" with a much concerned look on her face.

4.When she looks into a hand mirror she says, "Oh no! My father is sick. He maybe died and he's all alone!"

5. When eating cereal, most bites she takes with her eyes shut, she says, "Drum munch." and hick-ups. What the movie really says is "Rum Punch" with a hick-up after wards.

6.With a super serious look she'll say, "Who are you and how did you find me?"

Those are just a few of the many that I can think of at the moment. She is quite the character and this whole blog would be even more fun if you could just hear her quote these lines. She's a fun and funny girl. When ever she says things that we aren't sure where she heard them, we just ask, "which movie is that from?" and she usually can tell us. And now for the answers:
1. Pete's Dragon when the lady finds Pete in the cave.
2. Mary Poppins. The closing song.
3. Mary Poppins when it starts to rain while they are playing in the drawing.
4. Beauty and the Beast when Belle sees her father in the magic mirror.
5. Mary Poppins when Mary is taking her medicine after being in the rain.
6. Tangled. Rapunzel asking Flynn.

Walking In A Winter Wonderland...

Oh yes, it snowed! And not only did we go walking in the winter wonderland, we ran and rolled in it, threw snow balls, made Daddy size snow angels and itty-bitty Avery ones, and even ate some (or alot as Avery did). Avery had a blast. After Dave did his snow angel, she would plop down in every pile she found and get her legs and arms to flappin'. She was thrilled when she learned she could eat it. Once she discovered that, it was about all she would do til her little nose and cheaks were rosey red and her lips wouldn't quite work when she tried to talk. Rainy even joined in the fun chasing Aves around the yard. (Oh, which reminds me, I never mentioned to Aves not to eat yellow snow, oh.)

Turkey Day...

What a great day (or two days) Thanksgiving was. My wonderful in-laws allowed us to stay with my family on Thursday and then meet them on Friday that way we all got a better visit, no traveling from house to house on the day of, and alot more time to eat and rest at one place. It worked out great! And since we will be moving soon, my wonderful mom allowed me to host our family dinner at our very own house. Besides my dry turkey (better luck next year), everything was perfect. And oh, you should have tasted Daves fried turkey! When it was all said and done, it looked as though voltures had gotten a hold of that thing...there wasn't a scrap of meat left on it. We had a total of 24 (or 25 or 26) people (the number changed every time we turned around! We even had a great couple from church join us who were unable to make it home with their family. The only downer was that my sweet DeeDee couldn't join us. She just wasn't feeling well or wanting to chance catching a cold. At Davids' parents house it was yet another tasty meal. We enjoyed watching Aves and Cayla play and did the best we could keeping them away from poor Butch who wasn't feeling well.

Well, my time is limited, so enjoy the picture show...

Jett and Aves conversation at the table:

A "Is yours good, Dett?"

J "Yeah, it's good."

A "Do you like it, Dett?"

J "Do you like it?"

They don't look thrilled to be there but they were so sweet together.

She was telling Nanny, "You're my best friend."

Home-Grown Pumpkin Patch!

This little guy "scared me to died" (as Aves would say)! It was our first pumpkin found and I thought it was some kind of animal. It seriously made me jump back!

Before and a little later...

It then became the "mean lady" carved pumpkin.

I love the intensity on dads face as he cleans the pumpkin, good work! And who gave her a sharp object to stab seeds with....who's watching this girl?

Her latest most favorite movie is Monsters Inc. Just perfect for this time of year. She insisted on the "mean lady" for her pumpkin.

Sometime in June I decided to plant some pumpkin seeds. Yes, that is a bit late into the gardening season to be starting a garden but better late than never! Since we have moved out here and have the space for them, I have been wanting to plant pumpkins; however, with my failure to remember these fun ideas I sometimes get, this is our fourth year here and only our first pumpkin patch. Again, better late than never! When I planted these in mid-June I wasn't sure if they would survive the drought along with the high levels of heat at that time of year. So I decided to go with the tough love approach...water every few days, don't worry about them when out of town, let the grass grow where it may, and fertilize at least once...that way there would be no disappointment if all that time spent went to waste on an empty crop. But to my surprise they began to sprout just weeks after planting them! And did they ever grow fast! I read that the vine would grow several inches a day and it did. Avery was my big helper and loved checking the progress each day. She enjoyed putting on her rain boots and gardening gloves each time we went out (even in 112 degree weather). She also like to show off her "pumtins" as she calls them to any visitor we had. So far we have cut 9 off the vine and have 7 more still a-growin'. I love pumpkins especially when they are ours to call our own!

Happy Fall Ya'll!

Jesus Loves Avery

I finally got some of her singing on video. She sings constantly, some songs I recognize and others are in that little language of her own (yes she still has it). This one we can all understand and it's precious. She knows now that if she does something on camera she can watch it play back, so now I know the trick to getting her to perform!

Lake Vallacito, Colorado

Oh how I love Colorado especially when we leave here at 104 degrees and arrive there at 78 degrees! That alone would have sufficed, however; we also got to enjoy the awesome mountains, beautiful sunsets, rain (real, wet rain!) and a lake as smooth as glass. Why do we live where we live again?! Apparently to appreciate what our area obviously lacks.

So, I truly love Colorado! We had a wonderful week long family camp out...

Honestly, does that seem real? This is what heaven is to me.

Our daily view...this time with a small rain storm on its way...

We were prepared for rain and in fashion too!

Us three...

Love this couple!

Dad and Lonnie were some lean-mean dutch oven machines! From pot roasts and stew to cobblers and biscuits...mmm, mmm, good!

She wasn't a fan of Smores so I gladly ate hers plus smore!

Cruising around the Lake.

Love this one!
A lovely lady on a lovely day on a lovely lake.

An amazing kayak trip around the lake too.

Silverton, Co. Had to get a train picture.

We even got to swing some clubs just Dave and I.

Thank you David and family for a blessed vacation!

PS - When do we got back?!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Avery!!!

Oh what a fun day yet at the same time it was a bit sad and hard to realize that our baby girl was turning 3. Where has the time gone? ...... But enough of the sadness and on with the goodness ...... This years party theme wasn't hard to choose because we have watched Tangled at least 4 times a week since receiving it on Easter from Aunt Ashley. Avery asks for it by saying, "Let's watch princess got long hair." She usually follows that sentence with this one, "Her's mommys mean?" Anyhoo, we had most of our usual bunch of family in though Kaegen was the only cousin who was able to make it. (We sure missed the rest of you guys :) I took some ideas from various sites and was able to put some fun crafts and games together plus easy to make decor. I was proud of my inexpensive hand-made party decor! Anyhoo, back to Aves, that morning she was excited to see her banners and balloons and gifts from us already wrapped and sat out. She said, "Ah, that's Avery's prize!" So cute. We spent good quality time just the three of us letting her unwrap her gifts from us. She was so fun and happy and said a sweet "yank you!" for every one.

After her nap she was super excited when family started arriving. As soon as her Great-Granny and Peepaw walked in the door she unwrapped their gifts. We then had to explain to her to wait until everyone got there to do the others. Since princess was the theme, she was blessed with many dress-up princess dresses, shoes, purses, gloves, etc. Her and Kaegen spent the rest of the party switching dresses. It was a wonderful day and super special for a special little Avery.

Helping Nani prepare for the cupcake batter...

This girl has a quick draw when it comes to scooping up cake batter! Whether it's with her finger or a spoon she can reach that bowl of batter from across the kitchen. Aren't these the cutest matching aprons?! Miss Amy Jo made them for us and they are beautifully made....thanks Amy!

Opening gifts first thing that morning. She was such a sweet doll all morning.

Posing with Rapunzel's long hair. Not sure why Aves is fishing though?

Activity #1: Making Pascal blow-outs. This took help from Nana to keep the birthday girl focused!

Group effort...since we had a lack of kids, I asked the adults to make the extras to send back to all the other cousins...just look at the concentration! Everyone but the birthday girl hard at crafting!

After all that, she wasn't too sure about it...but didn't Pascal turn out cute?!

Love this picture!

One excited birthday girl!

Her super duper ride from the both of us. She didn't quite get the hang of it so she would slide over and ask Kaegen, "you drive?".

When I brought the cake out I wasn't sure if she would understand my abstract Tangled Tower. But I was so happy when her little face lit up and she said, "princess got long hair!". That's just what I wanted to hear!

That day she would sing, "Happy Dirtday for Avery." So cute, and yes she calls it dirtday! Ha!

A birds-eye view. That was sooo fun to make and the least stressful cake I've ever attempted!

Activity #2: Pinning the frying pan on Flynn Riders head (you have to see the movie to understand :). Kaegen led the way to show Aves what to do.....
She got the game but missed like the most of us!

Had to post this one, sorry dad! It's just so funny!

Nani's attempt ....Dads' is the one furthest to the left! Ha! It was actually harder than it would seem, especially after spinning ten times (those were the grownup rules).

Thank you to all of those who came and showered our sweet Avery with gifts! She had a wonderful time with you all! We love each and everyone of you and are blessed to have such a loving and supportive family!

Love, Stefanie
