What a Blessed Week!

Let's compare!

2009

2010

There's no place like...church camp! We look forward to this one week out of the year more than anything else! It's like a birthday and Christmas and any other holiday all wrapped up in one fabulous week of devotionals, prayer, singing, Bible studies and never ending fellowship! What better way to spend a week than with your family in Christ where the days go on and on even with 100 degree heat and nights seem endless 'cause we never want to go to sleep! This year was a bit of a challenge with Avery's broke leg, but Nana bought her a fancy wagon with a canopy top, ice chest on the back, two sided seats plus it converted into a bench! Other than our 4 totes, 2 suitcases, bag of toys, pack-n-play, paci's (or boppies, as Aves calls them), teaching material, couselor shirts and folders, and jogging stroller, that wagon was all we needed! haha! We pulled her all over that camp and all the way she waved, blew kisses and offered rides to any passing kid or adult! She never once complained about the cast and was eager to show everyone her "boo boo". She got plenty of sympathy, for sure! She slept like a rock and ate like a horse, every other meal anyway! She used the potty most of the time and was even able to wear big girl panties some! She has learned to get out of church services though by telling everyone within a few rows of us "I wanna poop" while pointing to her diaper! It worked the first few dozen times then we caught on! She wanted "ou-tide" the moment her eyes opened and lucky for her every meal was served ou-tide! The men cook and do the dishes too so what mom would ever want to leave that place! Plus around the corner of every camper or cabin was Nana or Marry (as Aves calls her) or Ashley to help pull the wagon, entertain during services or make a "poop" run! I couldn't have gotten through that week without them! Plus Pops and Nani surprised us, helped with Aves then took her home a day early to get out of the heat and into a good bed! We just love this place look forward to watching our kids grow together and pray this camp will help them stay close!

Gotta wear shades!

Dads are so fun!

Gotta wear Aunt Ashleys' shades!

Twinkies but one with red hair and fair skin, the other brown headed and tan! Ok, it's just their dresses that match! So cute!

The famous wagon that drew the kids in!

And here it is displayed as a bench! How convenient!

Nani and Nanny came for their first experience of camp and love it!

Avery called for "PawPaw" from pews away! We always had to sit close by!

She obviously loved Bible Class and her buddies! Page did a great job once again, even with a bun in the oven..once again!

Here the wagon is featured with the canopy! Oo, aww! (I know you all were thinking that!)

Pops made his first visit here as well! What a good surprise to have him and Nani again!

Cousins to the Rescue!

They are sooo good at making her smile!

Not sure who this other girl is but Avery loved her!

Too sweet!

Week 1 of the hot pink, full leg cast was pretty rough! Avery wasn't able to move around much plus she hurt for the first several days. We spent the first week carrying her from room to room, to the outdoor rocking chair, to the swing, to the indoor rocking chair, to dads chair, to our bed, etc! She just wasn't too happy in any one particular place for any amount of time! But then Kreek and Kaegen came to save the day...actually three days! Nana brought them down to entertain Avery and join her at VBS...and boy was she entertained! She even got motivated to start crawling again and pulling herself up on the furniture to stand...a bit of a flashback to the 10 month old stage! She LOVED watching them run around and ride their bikes and learned to squeal like Kaegen! What a well needed break for mommy!

"Uh-bee!"

Temp cast and where she slept the first two nights...

The new pink cast...just the saddest sight to see!

"Uh-bee" is how our little Avery says whoopsie! And boy did she have a whoopsie this past Sunday evening at church! She was standing in a booster chair which was placed in the floor when she lost her balance and fell just five inches to the ground...I could tell by her cry that something was wrong but never dreamed it would be a broken leg! We took her to the ER where they were very nice and quickly got her in (not how I pictured on ER visit at all!). She refused to let the nurses take her vitals or even look at her...that was until she got a good ole dose of Tylenol with codine...and boy did that help our poor baby feel better! She felt so good that she didn't move, not once, during the five x-rays! She even let us prop her up in the hospital bed so she could "relax" (as much as possible with a broken little leg) and watch TV! After the medicine, she thanked anybody and everybody who walked through the door with a cute little "eh oo" (that's thank you, of course!). She even let them take her blood pressure and politely said another "eh oo"! Then she really loosened up and told the nurses what a dog says, an elephant and a monkey! They were very impressed! ha! They got a temp cast put on and in less than two hours we were on our way. On the long ride home she insisted that I ride with her in the back and since she has a broken leg, how could I refuse (oh, this is going to bite us later..). For entertainment she loves to open my lotion, dab it in her hand and rub it in. Since the meds were working she didn't mind that I was just pretending to put it in her hand but she still gave me a sweet "eh oo" every single time which was literally several dozen times! That night got rough however...when the meds wore off she was hurting and even kicking her leg around causing it to come out of the temp cast. We rewrapped it with a good fight the whole time. She finally fell asleep about 2 a.m. though it wasn't good sleep. She had good spirits Monday but another rough night of sleeplessness. Today she got a permanent PINK cast. We thought it would be below the knee but it's from toe to thigh...we also thought it would be off in two weeks but now it will be 4 to 6 weeks before it comes off! She still smiles and plays, is alot more demanding with her "up" and "down" and "ou-tide", and can move around a bit but we just feel so sorry for the poor thing! Nani and Pops and Nana have already come to the rescue and have let me catch up on a few hours of extra sleep...loves those grandparents! My heart goes out to those moms and dads who have spent time with their babies in hospitals and healing at home! This has been very traumatic!

Summer Fun Has Begun!

I have to post a few fun pics before the next blog entry...you will see why! We bought Aves a little pool for the back yard and she absolutely loves it as you moms know! She was very careful not to splash too much and spent most of her time pouring water down her slide! Nice and easy! Then we got a visit from cousin Jett and boy were they cute together! We had a family BBQ at Lana and Lonnies and they even set up a pool for them there with a cover and all since it's like a bazillion degrees this week! They neither one got out for almost an hour or in other words 'til they were all pruney! They loved the water though neither one interacted with the other, they just did their own thing, him with his boat and her with her bucket both from Joni! Then we got to watch them swap toys, one to the rocker, one to the rider, rocker, rider, rocker, rider! It was really cute the way the switched at the same time! And last but certainly not least Avery and Jett got to attend Bible class together! That was a sweet thing to see! Mom took these pics and said they just loved it!

Hot but cool!
Everybody out of the pool!

Great-Granny Nanny and G.G. DeeDee watching their great-grands play swap the toys!

Can't beat a cool pool of water on a hot, hot day! So hot Jason had to get in too! (Hope you don't mind this picture post! ha!)

Such great little Bible class students!
